Safeguarding All

As a member of Tribe All Democratic College the most important thing is that you are safe and that you feel safe. We ensure that everyone who is part of the College is responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare and wellbeing of its community.

Child Protection, Adult Protection & Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding is embedded into our curriculum, there is learning around identifying safe practice at home, in College, in work and in the community.

All members follow a personal development programme that supports them to gain an excellent understanding of what it means to live in a diverse society. Through an action learning curriculum offer, students become aware that everyone is unique.

Trauma Informed Practice

At Tribe All Democratic College we adopt a Trauma Informed Practice approach.

A strengths-based framework, grounded in understanding that trauma exposure impacts neurological, biological and social development. It focuses on safety, empowerment, and trust to prevent re-traumatisation, shifting the focus from “What is wrong with you?” to “What has happened to you?

Safeguarding and Wellbeing Code

Tribe All College has a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Code for all members, which helps us to more effectively communicate to all our stakeholders about the specific work, both proactive and reactive, that we undertake within the College to ensure that members are able to learn and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. The code gives details of the College’s contextual safeguarding approach and is structured around three tiers of provision:

  • Universal – this encompasses all proactive work undertaken to safeguard our members, e.g. pastoral care, curriculum delivery, whole college culture, member voice/member advocacy work, therapeutic support, partnerships with external services.
  • Targeted – any specific programmes or initiatives aimed at members who may benefit from additional support e.g. special learning programmes, group work for members at risk.
  • Specialist – support within college that is aimed at members who have been identified as needing extra support e.g. learning developed specifically to safeguard.

Member Safeguarding Ambassadors

Member Safeguarding Ambassadors are trained members who promote a safe, inclusive college culture by acting as peer mentors, reporting concerns to staff, and leading wellbeing initiatives.
